Goodwill is a non-profit whose mission, services, and stores are all funded by one thing, donations.
However, in one of the largest cities in America, the only donation center is located downtown and hard to reach.
This makes donating difficult for the average Chicagoan, leading them to throw away their old clothes instead of donating them. We wanted to make donating easier for Chicagoans while also cleaning up our city at the same time. We did this by turning old, unused newspaper dispensers into donation centers, creating Goodwill Drop Boxes.
Because we were turning old newspaper boxes into donation centers, it felt fitting that
we announce the new program in the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times.
